Lara Janse van Vuuren
CO-AM Technical Product Manager, Materialise
Lara is the Product Manager for our Materialise CO-AM platform, focusing on the Advanced Manufacturing Execution and Quality Management Systems. She has an extensive background in the aerospace industry, thanks to her experience at NASA Langley Research Center, where she worked in the Thermal and Structural branch on heat shield technologies. Nora founded the non-profit Women in 3D Printing (Wi3DP) in 2014 to promote women leaders in the additive manufacturing industry, and now serves as Chairwoman of the Board. Pursuing her vision for more social inclusion, Nora joined 3D Africa as a Board Advisor and is active on various advisory boards for the 3D printing industry.
The main benefit of 3D printing for me is showing the individualized anatomy because in congenital heart disease, each anatomy is unique. And when we’re talking about operating and doing complex procedures on patients, seeing and feeling that representation on a one-to-one scale really means that we can plan the best procedure, plan the best and most appropriate surgery, and make sure we minimize our errors in judgment.
